David McDavid Acura of Austin & Toys for Tots

David McDavid Acura of Austin will be an official Drop-Off Location for Toys for Tots this Holiday season. This is another initiative to show our commitment to our community. Acura of Austin wants to be a catalyst for community involvement. We are getting in the holiday spirit by contributing to the Toys for Tots Foundation. In addition to being a drop-off location we are offering incentives toward our vehicles to promote the cause.

A Letter from David McDavid Acura of Austin

"Only by giving, you are able to receive more than you already have." Jim Rohn

With the holiday season upon us we are reminded of the things that truly matter in life, family, friends,  and the love an tolerance for one another. As we approach this season we can already imagine the smells of a home cooked turkey, fresh out of the oven, the football game playing in the back ground, green bean casserole being ignored in the corner, the smell of melted butter on a hot flaky roll, all the delicious hot fresh food that we should not eat, but we will try.

The noise of family that is not together often, enjoying the laughter, the eating, the clean up, and even the saved room for dessert. Then we take this spirit of giving and love into final push for the holiday season: lights, music, a little extra cheer or a dash of bah humbug that comes with the chaos of end of the year, we need to remember not everyone is as fortunateWith this in mind, McDavid Acura of Austin wanted to do our part to  make this time of year that could be tough for someone, just a little easier.

By pairing with Toys for Tots, through out November 1 till drop off on December 2. We are wanting to give that cheer to a family in need, to a child that could of had nothing under a tree, a present that not only represents the hope for the future but shows the what the love of a united community can do for its people and our future generations. We have three separate donation locations throughout the dealership, two in the sales department and one in the service department. We want to be as involved with the community as possible and it starts with the little things we can do to help make this world a better place. Please bring any unwrapped toys to the donation stations.

Every little bit helps more than you can imagine. Thank You,

McDavid Acura of Austin

  • How did Toys for Tots start?

The Foundation was able to satisfy the six needs identified by the Marine Corps.  First, the Foundation could provide toys to supplement the collections of local units that had fewer Marines due to military cutbacks of the '80s and '90s.  Second, the Foundation could arrange and pay for the creation, publication, manufacture and distribution of promotion and support materials to Toys for Tots Coordinators.  Third, the Foundation could enable individual and corporate donors to Toys for Tots to take a charitable deduction on their income tax returns.  Fourth, the Foundation could enter into contracts with corporations to conduct promotions, which would produce royalties for Toys for Tots.  (Needs three and four were two important elements of this charitable endeavor that the Marine Corps, as a federal agency, could not fulfill).  Fifth, the Foundation could ensure that the Toys for Tots program operates in compliance with IRS regulations, state laws and regulations and charitable standards.  Finally, the Foundation took responsibility for the day to day operations of the Marine Toys for Tots Program, thus relieving the Reserve Headquarters Staff of that responsibility and allowing them to focus on training, organizing, and equipping the reserve force. Over its life span, the Marine Toys for Tots Program distributed over 512 million toys to over 237 million less fortunate children. • What is the Toys for Tots mission?

The mission of the U. S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Program is to collect new, unwrapped toys during October, November and December each year, and distribute those toys as Christmas gifts to less fortunate children in the community in which the campaign is conducted.

  • What is the Toys for Tots Objective?

The objectives of Toys for Tots are to help less fortunate children throughout the United States experience the joy of Christmas; to play an active role in the development of one of our nation's most valuable resources - our children; to unite all members of local communities in a common cause for three months each year during the annual toy collection and distribution campaign; and to contribute to better communities in the future.
